ERRATIC OPERATION OF "VEGLIA FUEL GAUGES
MODELS:
1989 MY 405 "DL" "S" AND "Mi16" VEHICLES
COMPLAINT:
Fuel gauge "bounces" up and down after starting vehicle
The purpose of this bulletin is to give dealer Service personnel information regarding operating characteristics unique to the "Veglia" fuel gauge on 405
models.
NOTE:
405 models are equipped with instrument clusters from either of two suppliers, "Jaeger" and "Veglia"
The unique operating characteristics of the "Veglia" fuel gauge are not found on the "Jaeger" units
"VEGLIA" FUEL GAUGE OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS:
With fuel level below 3/4 full, anytime the vehicle is started and driven away "briskly" within the first 30 seconds after start-up, the fuel gauge needle
will "bounce" up and down for the remaining time on the 30-second built-in stabilizer delay. This is normal and you should not attempt to repair this
condition.
This operating characteristic on 1989 models will be reduced from 30 seconds to 3 seconds on 1990 MY vehicles.
